Ban ERP

My personal reasons I advocate to ban ERP: 
1) Sitting in an interior for hours on end takes away from the already limited population.   You can argue that it will help bolster numbers on the front page, but that does nothing if people come to play on a populated server only to find no one. 
2) You don't know who is behind the screen - more pointedly, underage people can lie about their age.  (this is actually #1 but I like to bait with reason #1)

Based on the replies it's weird to see people being so fervent against removing the said roleplay. Own cow in the ditch, so to speak?

Sure, leaking private chatlogs can be weird, but so is contributing to the weird logs in general. What if I am trying to change a sitting animation and I suddenly slip into the void where I see the whole server's logs, and just at that very moment I get slapped in the face with a paragraph full of someone cybering with another player? I didn't ask for it, I didn't consent for it; you'd be punished if you were to be caught like that without asking for permission otherwise.

Not to mention the poor saps checking on the chatlogs for any possible rule breaks, completely unrelated to your erp, and then happen to stumble upon your word vomit of erotic roleplay. A person with weaker mind might be mortified with such.

Also, the age comes to question too. We've already had cases of people lying about their age, and when they were caught on, they were swiftly permanently banned from the server until they were of age. You never know who is behind the screen.

Being someone who will openly admit to having participated in quite a bit of this type of roleplay (not on STRP) before, I can agree.

For one, the issue with something as simple as selecting the wrong seat animation can lead to an individual being bombarded with an extensive wall of text; this text can include detail on another person's "adult pleasures." We're all adults playing on an 18+ server, but even I recognize the lack-luster difference it makes typing out your fantazies in STRP's chatbox, compared to your own. Spare the odd few souls from reading it, do it somewhere else.

Besides, there'll almost always be the odd few who slip past by lying on their application. Timmy the 13 year old gangster, who's faked being 21. 

I'm all for genuine romantic RP, but make it a f2b (fade to black) when things "progress" into something more. Preferably, cut it short even. 

A good point Faledak also made: the amount of chat-logs Admins go through, bless their hearts, they don't need to scroll over your incredibly detailed pleasures.

Someone ERPing in their house is harming no one and IS doing it in a private chat. Literally no one should be seeing their private RP. I don't care what it's about. There's no need for private chatlogs to be read, ever, unless there's an actual investigation going on about rulebreaks/etc. 

You're literally saying "people shouldn't RP privately because a staff member might violate community trust and spread it around to harass them." 

On every community I was ever staff of, it was a bannable offense for anyone to spread screenshots with a malicious attempt to mock, troll or harass other players--ESPECIALLY staff. Doesn't matter if it's ERP or just mocking someone for their RP quality sucking or whatever else. It's absolutely harassment to do that. 

You're attacking the entirely wrong part of the issue. I'm not going to respond further since you apparently don't know how to have a discussion without telling others to "grow up". 

This is pretty much my thoughts on the matter, and as for the known exploit: It's being looked into being fixed to at least not have chat spawn there on accident and another thing anyone using this exploit for MG or harassment purposes will be punished under 15.2.

Once the glitch has been fixed I think it'll be fine.

I fully agree with the points of @JonnyNoH and @malarkey. I think ERP is dangerous solely because you can never know who is on the other side of the screen. We all at one point I'm sure pretended to be older than we were online; I've seen it so many times before, people growing older in a community and revealing their age, only for previous ERP partners to gulp and realise they were writing out erotica with a minor. It is our responsibility as adults to protect children online, which also means refraining from engaging in NSFW activities with people you have not met IRL.

it is plain to see to those with a finger on the pulse of said 'recent events' that this thread is a thinly veiled continuation of some ongoing harassment created with disingenuous intent to fan its flames/protest some punishments that have been dealt out. As such I will be making the decision to close this thread with the support of other seniors and the creator will be muted on the forums until the end of the weekend.

I will also be opening a thread in the staff discord to discuss a rule to take ERP to DMs instead of allowing it to be ingame.
