The Glossary
The Grand Korrigan, otherwise referred to as "The Queen of Lannahechee", was built in 1879 for luxury travel between the ports upon the Lannahechee River. Originally this vessel was developed as a marvel of American ingenuity and spectacle for the aristocracy of Lemoyne. Over the years, it proved more fruitful to remain landlocked. Now, it serves as a backdrop in the harbors of Saint Denis, welcoming carpetbaggers, gambling degenerates, and suits of all sizes. Notably, it's rumored to house luxury items, jovial entertainment, and pleasures known to rich dandies. Various proprietors have tried their hand at this enterprise, but all seem to buckle under the weight of responsibility or mysteriously drown in the Bayou Nwa. Only time will tell if The Grand Korrigan will prosper under new leadership, or forever be a haunted enterprise to curse the shores of Saint Denis. Enter the Grand Korrigan to discover a bounty of newfound riches, or defeat at the hands of the house. Upon this vessel lies a variety of games, entertainment, lavish furnishings, and Bohemian comforts - all suited to those with immense billfolds and proclivities for expensive thrills. Enjoy a drink at the bar, and order cocktails common to the higher class. Try your hand at poker, and rival other players in pursuit of a larger stack. Spend time amidst the blackjack tables, and hope to beat the house. Fish for high payouts upon the roulette tables, or lose it all from faulty superstitions. The entire watercraft is an amalgamation of American capitalism, voyeurism, and prodigal patrons. Golden amenities and the backdrop of sumptuous details offer comforts unparalleled, and there is no vice left unattended or without a price tag. If money would rather be earned than won, work opportunities are abundant. Seek to aid the efforts of the Grand Korrigan by supplying ample security, and keep villainous cheaters at bay. Labor upon the ship as a member of staff to change linens and tidy the great halls of this vessel. Attempt to swoon the lonesome gambling degenerate, and assume flirtatious methods by becoming a local floozy. Whatever the role, there's sure to be a need. Opportunities are abundant, and money is to be made - day after day. Nevertheless, every worker is vying for some attention and extra pay, and no doubt drama is to be in abundance amidst this floating casino. The Grand Korrigan offers a thousand reasons to visit and a thousand more to stay. Endless nights, fueled by whiskey and rife with risk, are sure to plague the port for years to come. Rumors have spread, and this ship is now open to the public. Wives - beware! Your husbands are at risk of wasting all bank savings. Characters that find themselves without proper funds may be obligated to newfound debts, and work at the behest of the proprietor until such obligations are settled. The measures a gambler takes can seem perplexing, yet one thing is certain: The Grand Korrigan wasn't built on winners. 6
