  1. In the year 1900, Van Horn existed as a frontier settlement nestled in the rugged expanse of the American Southwest. Initially established to support nearby mining activities, the town experienced rapid growth due to its strategic position along crucial trade routes and the lure of wealth from nearby silver deposits. However, alongside this prosperity, Van Horn harbored a darker underbelly earning a reputation for high crime rates and a pervasive atmosphere of lawlessness. Surrounded by expansive marshland terrain, the town became a magnet for criminals who frequently targeted stagecoaches transporting valuable cargoes of silver and gold. These "stagecoach bandits" struck fear into the hearts of travelers and settlers, utilizing the rugged landscape to evade capture and secure their ill-gotten gains. Their daring exploits often made headlines in regional newspapers, cementing Van Horn's notoriety as a perilous frontier outpost. Law enforcement in Van Horn faced significant challenges in maintaining order. The local sheriff's office, tasked with upholding the law, struggled with limited resources and a shortage of seasoned deputies willing to confront the well-armed and ruthless criminals who operated with impunity. This reluctance left Van Horn vulnerable to the whims of those who lived by the gun, perpetuating a climate of fear and uncertainty among its residents. For the townsfolk who made Van Horn their home, life was a precarious balance between seeking economic opportunities in mining and trade and navigating the constant threat posed by lawlessness. The pervasive presence of robbery and violence cast a shadow over daily life, impacting everything from business transactions to personal safety. Infamous Slim The Elusive Saddlebag Slim Strikes Again: Stagecoach Robber's Identity Shrouded in Mystery The latest incident occurred yesterday on the treacherous stretch of road leading out of Van Horn, where a masked figure, known only as Saddlebag Slim, ambushed a Wells Fargo stagecoach en route to Rhodes. With a sackcloth mask concealing his features and a pair of pistols gleaming in the sunlight, Slim descended upon the unsuspecting travelers with a calculated ferocity. Eyewitness accounts describe a scene of chaos and fear as Slim efficiently relieved the stagecoach of its valuable cargo of silver bullion and personal belongings. "He moved like a shadow, quick and precise," remarked one shaken passenger. "There was no mistaking his intent." Despite the best efforts of lawmen and vigilantes who responded swiftly to the scene, Slim once again managed to elude capture, disappearing into the rugged terrain that has become his sanctuary. His horse, a sleek black stallion, thundered away into the horizon, leaving behind only dust and unanswered questions. The identity of Saddlebag Slim remains a mystery, obscured by the sackcloth mask that has become his trademark. The Slick Mick Slick Mick and Saddlebag Slim's Bold Heist: Outlaws Escaped Justice Amidst Chaos The notorious outlaws Slick Mick and Saddlebag Slim staged a daring robbery of a stagecoach yesterday afternoon just outside of Citadel Rock. The duo, known for their audacious exploits across the frontier, struck with precision and speed before vanishing into the rugged wilderness. Eyewitnesses reported a scene of chaos as the masked bandits, Saddlebag Slim sporting his signature sackcloth mask and Slick Mick with his slicked-back hair and cold eyes, intercepted the Wells Fargo stagecoach bound for Saint Denis. Armed to the teeth and mounted on swift horses, the outlaws swiftly overpowered the stagecoach's guards and rifled through its valuable cargo. Forming of Coach Gang Outlaws of Van Horn: The Elusive Coach Gang Led by Saddlebag Slim Reports suggest the gang has established a network of informants and allies, complicating efforts to predict their movements or mount successful operations against them. This underground support has allowed the gang to sustain their criminal activities, perpetuating a climate of fear across the frontier. The Coach Gang's saga serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in the untamed West. Their exploits, though criminal, have captured the imagination of many who romanticize the perilous allure of life beyond the law. As sightings and speculation continue to circulate, authorities remain committed to apprehending Saddlebag Slim and his associates, restoring order to Van Horn and the surrounding regions. The legend of the Coach Gang persists, leaving communities anxiously awaiting the day when justice will finally catch up with these elusive outlaws. 2. Darmody's Dozen is a loosely organized outlaw gang currently operating throughout the state of Tahoma. In the beginning, the gang was referred to as the Blairsville Gang and Herrington-Quinn Gang during their first years in the Northeastern United States territory. They were a part of the Hole in the Wall coalition for a short while as the gang migrated, sharing a hideout with many outlaw groups and ne'er-do-well individuals in Johnson County, Wyoming. Darmody was suspected of taking part in a train robbery in 1892 and a bank robbery in 1897 with five other men, including Tall Gus, Acie, Shep, Frank Walsh and the young Marion also known to the group as the Kid. After their last bank robbery of many went wrong in Lafayette, Louisiana that resulted in the death of one of the gang members, Curtis Carter, a well-known trumpet player in the New Orleans circles, the group split up as they headed west into Tahoma to evade their pursuers. Hoping to have dodged the noose and their tail, Darmody is looking to establish connections with the estranged members of the gang and resume their spree in a blank state. OOC INFORMATION Hey. You know the drill from the Mild Bunch, and not much is changed so there's no point in pasting the same thing over here again, but I'll go over the key notes. We're portraying a rugged bunch of outlaws that prioritize quality roleplay and character development. We aim to take it as far as we can while providing some quality time and story telling to ourselves first and foremost and then the wider circle of the server. Characters wearing the Reverend beard are still banned from the faction. You can still DM me on the forums or the discord with any questions and concerns and talk about getting involved or if you want to play Helldivers 2, I'm still looking to grind some Super Credits. When joining the faction, you're not surrendering any rights to us because we expect you to be mature about taking losses if it comes to it, and you probably won't be getting in if that isn't right with you anyhow. Please don't metagame any information you see on this thread, even though I know some of you probably will. Have fun.
  3. The Mild Bunch, also known as the Ten Cent Men is a loosely organized outlaw gang operating throughout the state of Tahoma. The so-far unknown criminals gained the name "The Mild Bunch" due to taking a particular disinterest in highway robberies and gaining infamy and notoriety, while opting to target company men and the well-heeled people of the state. The gang came to public attention after an armored wagon owned by the Lemoyne National Bank was hit on the Lemoyne county line during a routine delivery. The guardsmen who were tasked to protect the wagon were found shot dead underneath a bridge nearby Dewberry Creek, while the armored wagon and it's contents are still missing. Famed United States Marshal Sherman Hensley was unavailable to comment on the situation when asked by Tahoma Times, as he was too busy composing a telegram while the phone line within the state building was occupied after a hot air balloon made an emergency landing on their backyard. OOC INFORMATION Hi. We're portraying a rugged bunch of outlaws that prioritize quality roleplay and character development over slow-burn highway robberies that devolve into turn and burn deathmatches after being tracked down by bloodhounds. Although it graces us with beautiful shootout clips that are popular among our family and friends and it produces great intellectual discussions among our roleplayer peers, we try to steer clear from it as best as we can because I personally am pretty bad at gunfighting in this game. Instead, we aim to take it as far as we can while providing some quality time and story telling to ourselves first and foremost and then the wider circle of the server. Characters wearing the Reverend beard need not apply because it looks very goofy. In fact nobody needs to apply, since the recruitment's completely done in character, if we need to add more ruffians to our ranks. You can still DM me on the forums or the discord with any questions and concerns and talk about getting involved or if you want to play Helldivers 2. When joining the faction, you're not surrendering any rights to us because we expect you to be mature about taking losses if it comes to it, and you probably won't be getting in if that isn't right with you anyhow. Please don't metagame any information you see on this thread, even though I know some of you probably will.
  4. "The wealth of the West is often measured in dust and dreams, where the promise of prosperity dances on the edge of a pickaxe and the toil of those seeking fortune etches stories of economic struggle into the rugged landscapes of opportunity." - American Pioneer, Calvin Turner The Hollingers, aliased as "Hollinger Brothers" are a group of bandits who have allegedly committed many low-scale robberies through the 19th century, the gang was founded by two brothers; hence the name, Wyatt "Whiskey' Hollinger; who is said to be an ex-Civil War Veteran, along with his younger brother, Billy. Their origins are not yet pinpointed, along with their whereabouts; they are said to run a small "criminal-operation" out in the hills of Valentine, however, the lack of a parent figure due to the duo losing their parents in a raging scurvy epidemic; (promoting a poor economic status) from an early age along with the group composing of impoverished pioneers struggling to make ends meet may explain for their need to hustle to survive.
  5. 𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℂ𝕠𝕨𝕓𝕠𝕪𝕤. The Cowboys Under Clay Anderson White 1866. The Cowboys also known as The Cochise County Cowboys were founded in 1866 by Clay Anderson White father of Colton Anderson White, Clay started out from humble beginnings as a ranch hand working his fathers ranch at 14 but after a bloody night time raid by rustlers he was forced to leave the Ranch with his Mother and younger sister, after weeks of wandering they stumbled across a small livestock town named Valentine, This is where Clay spent the rest of his early years doing anything he could to help out his family, taking on all kinds of unsavoury work to put food on the table, As soon as Clay turned 20 he fought and won a duel against a well known gun hand in town and after that became somewhat famous to the local people although fame comes with a price.. Clay was later arrested for the killing of the man and was incarcerated for 2 year's this is where he met a lot of interesting fellows and conjured up the idea of starting a gang, as soon as Clay was released he set his plans into motion, gathering as many good men as he could convince Clay formed what would come to be known as The Cowboys, Distinctive by the red sashes they wore. After a few months he was leading one of the biggest gangs in the state, turning them into a well organized and disciplined band of brothers. After a time other gangs started to form, One of them were the black hand gang, It's leader Clifford Kage becoming the Cowboys sworn enemy and Kage, Clay's main rival, many fight's were fought between the two gangs for years over the entire state, Some caused by slight's between both leaders and others for a chance to gain reputation for their gangs. All of them bloody and merciless. The Cowboys Under Colton Anderson White 1893. After Colton's father died during a shootout against The Black Hand Gang, It was down to Colton to take the reigns and pick up where his father had left off. Colton immediately set things right with some of the Cowboy's that were planning on taking over despite Colton's rights to run the gang, but after 3 tense year's of leading Colton was underhandedly betrayed by his right hand who subsequently split the gang in two, taking the remaining Cowboys no longer loyal to Colton and forming under a new name. The blow to Colton's pride and self confidence was bitter after the tireless effort to bring the Cowboys together after his fathers passing, to have it all come crashing down on top of him... Colton spent most of his time thereafter in saloons in the towns and cities drinking away the pain that had bestowed him and talking of the good old days to anyone who would listen, After months scouring the region attempting to reform what he once had, Colton was captured and arrested by Lawmen in Rhodes. They held him in the local jail for 3 days before US Marshall's from St Denis arrived and transported him to the State Penitentiary at Sisika where he was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment...It has been just over 3 years now and with his new freedom and an eagerness to revive what once was, the time has come for Colton to reform the Cowboy's and to keep his and his father's legacies alive. 6. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A gang of low-lives acting like they never had a choice in the matter; interested in nothing but themselves." - A description, provided by a lawman passing through New Hanover ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Black Rose, mostly consisting of people who were dealt a bad hand from birth and forced into a life of disrepute. Having formed early 1895, they haven't made many bold moves so far, as to avoid drawing the attention of local lawmen - choosing instead to focus on petty crime and small-time robberies to make ends meet. Most of the gang members are locals to Tahoma, being born there and failing to grow much of a reputation or coffers in the legal trade, they owe a great deal of gratitude to the gang's leader - each having been guided by his hand relatively early into their lives, growing a strong sense of loyalty to him throughout their years. Based in New Hanover, they choose to focus on other areas when performing actions that'd draw the gaze of law-enforcement on them, all too underequipped to risk a engagement against the sheriffs or marshals of Tahoma. `Unnamed Associate` `Lottie` `Monk` `Buscada Por Robo` An angry indeterminable shadow. `Elizabeth Brooks` //With thanks to FallenAsterick for the wonderful portrait!// ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notable events; March, 1895; The gang is formed, after countless attempts to become owners of any of the local properties, their hand is forced and they decide on the name - and calling card - to refer to themselves as. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC; While this is a illegal gang, we still intend on engaging with some of the legal aspects of the server to maintain a sense of cover and legality for our characters, and very much hope that we provide some fun interactions to anyone who happens to run into our gang whenever we engage in illegal actions. If there's ever a problem with how we conduct ourselves in-game, feel free to contact me (haydeon), or the official gang leader (pastatm) on discord to voice concerns.
