  1. In the year 1900, Van Horn existed as a frontier settlement nestled in the rugged expanse of the American Southwest. Initially established to support nearby mining activities, the town experienced rapid growth due to its strategic position along crucial trade routes and the lure of wealth from nearby silver deposits. However, alongside this prosperity, Van Horn harbored a darker underbelly earning a reputation for high crime rates and a pervasive atmosphere of lawlessness. Surrounded by expansive marshland terrain, the town became a magnet for criminals who frequently targeted stagecoaches transporting valuable cargoes of silver and gold. These "stagecoach bandits" struck fear into the hearts of travelers and settlers, utilizing the rugged landscape to evade capture and secure their ill-gotten gains. Their daring exploits often made headlines in regional newspapers, cementing Van Horn's notoriety as a perilous frontier outpost. Law enforcement in Van Horn faced significant challenges in maintaining order. The local sheriff's office, tasked with upholding the law, struggled with limited resources and a shortage of seasoned deputies willing to confront the well-armed and ruthless criminals who operated with impunity. This reluctance left Van Horn vulnerable to the whims of those who lived by the gun, perpetuating a climate of fear and uncertainty among its residents. For the townsfolk who made Van Horn their home, life was a precarious balance between seeking economic opportunities in mining and trade and navigating the constant threat posed by lawlessness. The pervasive presence of robbery and violence cast a shadow over daily life, impacting everything from business transactions to personal safety. Infamous Slim The Elusive Saddlebag Slim Strikes Again: Stagecoach Robber's Identity Shrouded in Mystery The latest incident occurred yesterday on the treacherous stretch of road leading out of Van Horn, where a masked figure, known only as Saddlebag Slim, ambushed a Wells Fargo stagecoach en route to Rhodes. With a sackcloth mask concealing his features and a pair of pistols gleaming in the sunlight, Slim descended upon the unsuspecting travelers with a calculated ferocity. Eyewitness accounts describe a scene of chaos and fear as Slim efficiently relieved the stagecoach of its valuable cargo of silver bullion and personal belongings. "He moved like a shadow, quick and precise," remarked one shaken passenger. "There was no mistaking his intent." Despite the best efforts of lawmen and vigilantes who responded swiftly to the scene, Slim once again managed to elude capture, disappearing into the rugged terrain that has become his sanctuary. His horse, a sleek black stallion, thundered away into the horizon, leaving behind only dust and unanswered questions. The identity of Saddlebag Slim remains a mystery, obscured by the sackcloth mask that has become his trademark. The Slick Mick Slick Mick and Saddlebag Slim's Bold Heist: Outlaws Escaped Justice Amidst Chaos The notorious outlaws Slick Mick and Saddlebag Slim staged a daring robbery of a stagecoach yesterday afternoon just outside of Citadel Rock. The duo, known for their audacious exploits across the frontier, struck with precision and speed before vanishing into the rugged wilderness. Eyewitnesses reported a scene of chaos as the masked bandits, Saddlebag Slim sporting his signature sackcloth mask and Slick Mick with his slicked-back hair and cold eyes, intercepted the Wells Fargo stagecoach bound for Saint Denis. Armed to the teeth and mounted on swift horses, the outlaws swiftly overpowered the stagecoach's guards and rifled through its valuable cargo. Forming of Coach Gang Outlaws of Van Horn: The Elusive Coach Gang Led by Saddlebag Slim Reports suggest the gang has established a network of informants and allies, complicating efforts to predict their movements or mount successful operations against them. This underground support has allowed the gang to sustain their criminal activities, perpetuating a climate of fear across the frontier. The Coach Gang's saga serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in the untamed West. Their exploits, though criminal, have captured the imagination of many who romanticize the perilous allure of life beyond the law. As sightings and speculation continue to circulate, authorities remain committed to apprehending Saddlebag Slim and his associates, restoring order to Van Horn and the surrounding regions. The legend of the Coach Gang persists, leaving communities anxiously awaiting the day when justice will finally catch up with these elusive outlaws. 2. Darmody's Dozen is a loosely organized outlaw gang currently operating throughout the state of Tahoma. In the beginning, the gang was referred to as the Blairsville Gang and Herrington-Quinn Gang during their first years in the Northeastern United States territory. They were a part of the Hole in the Wall coalition for a short while as the gang migrated, sharing a hideout with many outlaw groups and ne'er-do-well individuals in Johnson County, Wyoming. Darmody was suspected of taking part in a train robbery in 1892 and a bank robbery in 1897 with five other men, including Tall Gus, Acie, Shep, Frank Walsh and the young Marion also known to the group as the Kid. After their last bank robbery of many went wrong in Lafayette, Louisiana that resulted in the death of one of the gang members, Curtis Carter, a well-known trumpet player in the New Orleans circles, the group split up as they headed west into Tahoma to evade their pursuers. Hoping to have dodged the noose and their tail, Darmody is looking to establish connections with the estranged members of the gang and resume their spree in a blank state. OOC INFORMATION Hey. You know the drill from the Mild Bunch, and not much is changed so there's no point in pasting the same thing over here again, but I'll go over the key notes. We're portraying a rugged bunch of outlaws that prioritize quality roleplay and character development. We aim to take it as far as we can while providing some quality time and story telling to ourselves first and foremost and then the wider circle of the server. Characters wearing the Reverend beard are still banned from the faction. You can still DM me on the forums or the discord with any questions and concerns and talk about getting involved or if you want to play Helldivers 2, I'm still looking to grind some Super Credits. When joining the faction, you're not surrendering any rights to us because we expect you to be mature about taking losses if it comes to it, and you probably won't be getting in if that isn't right with you anyhow. Please don't metagame any information you see on this thread, even though I know some of you probably will. Have fun.
